Have you ever thought about the places that leave imprints on us?
I grew up with the most magical childhood spending summers and falls in Barnard, Vermont. Fairies, make believe, forts. Certain smells bring me back. Ferns. Apples with lemon juice. The Sound of Music. Without these childhood memories I would be a completely different person - and not a very adventurous one.
I love working with a specific memory or place and letting it influence the direction of a work. This piece is entirely made up of magazine articles from “Vermont Life.” I love her simplicity and the space between each orb. It reminds me so much of the feeling of fresh air in Barnard.
I’ll be back to visit again soon.
