I recently heard a story about a woman who would speak to the crows on her walks. She entrusted them with her innermost thoughts — things she couldn’t say out loud to anyone else. She believed they carried her words somewhere beyond her own understanding.
It really resonated with me because I love the idea of a creature being your familiar, and the idea that nature holds a magic that isn’t meant to be solved, only felt. Not to mention that crows are highly intelligent creatures.
They remember human faces. They hold grudges. They bring gifts. They solve complex problems and use tools. They mourn their dead. They communicate in layered, nuanced ways we’re only beginning to understand.
They are watchers and witnesses.
